My favorite 5 of 2013

I have already posted the top viewed posts of 2013.  However,  I have a few others that are some of my favorites that did not make that list.  Today, I want to share those with you.

5. Radio to wine cabinet
This project was a lot of fun.  It turned out great and I have my eyes open to find another radio cabinet to do this again!

2013 Top 10 Projects

It is amazing to me that this year is coming to an end already.  Didn't it just start?   Time flies.  I hope that you all have had a wonderful 2013!  If not, may 2014 be a blessed year for you with what is still to come.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas

These last few days I have been MIA, for a very good reason though.  The flu got me this year and I have been sleeping for the most part of 3 days!  We have been snowed and iced in anyways.  With that ice came no internet access for 2 days, so it's not like I would have been able to communicate much with you all anyways.

I am feeling better, but still taking it easy.  I am thankful that the flu hit over the weekend and not on Christmas.

So, I am stopping by for this short time just to say... myspace graphic comments

Silverware box becomes a Keepsake box with a new paint!

I was very excited to find this vintage silverware box.  Painted boxes are so fun to do.  I have seen these turned into paint brush storage boxes, jewelry boxes, and some others, but I wanted a keepsake box.
I can picture it redone with some memories tucked inside like a first pair of ballet shoes, first love notes, a diary...

Door stop angel

I have a few door stops I made a while back.  To my surprise, they didn't sell as well as I thought they would.  At my last craft show, one of the customers walked up to me and said "I am surprised you don't make these into angels."
So here's for you, whoever you are.

Teaching kids to give back

Today I am going to write about something besides a diy makeover.  I am going to write about giving.  'Tis the season for giving, or so it should be.  All my kids think about lately is what they are going to get, what's on their list, and what if they don't get it.  You can see, why this is heavy on my heart.

I am trying to come up with ways my kids can think of others during this season, but also throughout the year.

How to update country hearts

I found this country style bench with heart cut outs in the sides.  I can't pass up wood, no matter how outdated it may be.  You can always use the parts and pieces, right?

Wedding dress quilt

So my sister calls me and says, "I know what you can do for me for Christmas".  Right away a cautious, "ok" is my reply.  You never know what she is going to come up with.  She wanted me to make a quilt using her wedding dress!

A little scary, right?  Who wants to be responsible for cutting up someones wedding dress? If you know me even a little I am always up for a challenge.  Before I accepted my fate to make a quilt out of her wedding dress, I searched the internet and tried to convince her of other things we could make with it.  She wasn't having it.  Her mind was set.  Since this is my first quilt, yes I said first, I searched and searched for ideas of quilts with less cutting and sewing.  I found an idea here  I received my sisters consent on the style and set to work.

One word before I being.  If you are a quilter or sewer, be nice... please.

Here is her gorgeous wedding dress.

Reuse a Christmas tree top

This cast off Christmas tree top got snatched up from me right away.  I have been wanting a small tree for my front porch.  When your tree lights stop working, don't toss it, make a smaller tree!

3 chair bench

You may have seen these before, but this one is my first.  I had picked up these 3 chairs at a garage sale.  One had a broken spindle, but that didn't matter since I had been wanting to make one of these benches made of chairs.  So here goes...

Angel coat rack

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  You may have noticed I took the rest of the week off last week to be with family.  Now it's time to get back to busy.

I wanted to try a different graphic than some of the French Typography and the scroll that I recently did.  I opted for an angel for this coat rack that I found over the summer while garage salin'.
