Coat rack with shelf

I run across so many head and foot boards.  I wanted to do something different than a bench, so after a good look at this one, I was ready.
This one had the perfect feet to add to an ottoman (or something) so I set off to take it apart.
I also had this piece leftover from a table I re purposed a while back.  I took off the curvy part and cut it in 2 to make some shelf brackets.

I attached them to the main part of the head board with screws and wood glue.

I attached a scrap piece of wood to the top of the brackets with some nails. You can see the top of the "shelf" is a cream color I had begun to paint it to turn it into a sign, but it fit this perfectly.
It got painted with a diy cream chalk paint.  I added some hooks and it is complete.  Now this frees up those cute little feet to use on another project.  You can never find the legs and feet when you need them, so why not stock up?

I hope you enjoyed this re purposed headboard project.
